How to use VAN Loop - Introduction

Understanding first steps right after installation and before first sign in

Conversations

Your marketplaces conversations show up here as cards, each color-coded by its sync status with VAN.

  • Gray — History card. A VAN's opened listing, not linked to an active conversation

  • Yellow — Listing linked, messages waiting to be synced.

  • Green — All messages synced. You're up to date.

  • Red — No listing URL or VAN listing found yet. Open the chat and click "See Details" to capture it.

  • Skipped — Conversations you chose not to sync. Hidden by default; use the sync status filter to show them and un-skip any conversation at any time.

Search, sort & filters

Search by contact name, vehicle (year/make/model), VIN, phone, price, odometer, tag, or message text. Filter by source, sync status (including Skipped), or listing stage, and sort by last contacted, last synced, or stage.

Sync All

Click Sync All to push all pending messages to VAN, or enable auto-sync in Settings. It links the conversations to its VAN listings and uploads any new messages and attachments — each card turns green when it's up to date. When a conversation is synced, the seller's full name is added to the VAN listing automatically (you can turn this off in Settings).

Skip Listing


Don't want a conversation in VAN? Open the card's sub-menu (down arrow at the far right) and choose Skip. The conversation moves to the Skipped status and is never synced, even with auto-sync on. You can un-skip it later from the same menu. Turn the feature on or off in Settings.

Cards

Each card shows the contact, vehicle, and listing photo with a status dot. Cards are grouped by source, and each group header has badges for totals, missing URLs, and pending syncs — click a badge to filter. Use the VDP button to open the listing, or ↻ to refresh its latest VAN data, or Sync ↻ to sync the pending messages.

VDP

Open the VDP tab on a listing to view its VAN data, compare it against the source page, and update or create listings.

Reply

Click Reply on the VDP to open the marketplace chat for that conversation in a new tab, so you can answer the seller right away.

Merge & Updates

When you open a VDP, the extension compares VAN data with the source page. If differences are found, you'll get a prompt to pick which fields to update — nothing changes without your approval.

In Settings → Merge & Updates, each field has an Always merge option. Fields marked Always merge are updated in VAN automatically without asking. By default these are on for Seller Full Name, VIN, odometer, price and phone. Photos and videos are always reviewed manually.

Add Listing

Navigate to a marketplace listing and click Add Listing on the VDP tab. The extension adds photos, vehicle details, and seller info automatically — just review and save.

Add to VAN prompt

When you open a marketplace listing that is not in VAN yet, a floating prompt appears: **Add to VAN**, **Not now**, or **Don't show for this listing**. Hidden prompts are listed under Settings → Hidden Add to VAN prompts, where you can show them again one by one or all at once.

Mini-chat

Messages are never captured from the marketplace mini-chat. Click **Open in Messenger · VAN** on the mini-chat to open the conversation full screen, where sync works reliably.

Opening the VDP from any marketplace

The VDP tab opens automatically on every supported marketplace. If your VAN session has expired you will see "Your VAN session has expired. Sign in to keep going." — click **Sign in to VAN**, sign in on the browser tab that opens, and the VDP resumes.

Settings

Configure auto-sync frequency, default labels, watched fields, Always merge fields, seller name sync, Skip Listing, and more. Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the header or open settings.
