How to install VAN Extensions Manager on MacOS 🍏

Installing and unblocking the desktop installer

  1. Download the desktop installer

    1. AMD64 (x86_64 / Intel) Intel processor for Mac sold between 2006 ~2020

    2. ARM (ARM64 / Apple Silicon): Mac processors M1, M2, M3, M4, etc. sold after late 2020

  2. Unzip and execute it

  3. Allow/unblock the installer

  4. Go back to Chrome and install our extension

    Allow/Unblock the installer

    1. After downloading, double-click the downloaded .zip file and extract in <you username>/Downloads/VAN EXTENSIONS
    2. Run it — and expect macOS to block it the first time

    3. Double-click VAN-Extensions-Manager-Install.command. macOS refuses it and says

      1. "Apple could not verify it" . That is expected

      2. VAN Extensions Manager setup is not yet signed by the App Store app — and it is not a failure:

      3. In the warning, click Done (not "Move to Trash").

    4. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security

      1. scroll down to Security.

      2.
    5. You will see a line about VAN-Extensions Manager-Install.command being blocked — click Open Anyway and confirm.

    6. Enter your Mac password if asked. It is your own computer's password — nothing is sent anywhere.

    7. A black Terminal window opens and prints a few lines — that is the installer working, not an error.

      1. When it says Done, press Enter to close it.
    8. The installer opens normally after that. Click through it.
    9. You will never be asked for an administrator password. VAN Extensions Manager setup installs only for your user account. If something asks for an admin password, stop and message support — that is not our installer.

    10. If you can't move forward
    11. If the file disappears right after extracting, your antivirus quarantined it. Extract the zip again. Do not turn your antivirus off — if it happens twice, message support with your antivirus name.
